[Vancouver, Canada] — Today, January 10, marks World Hindi Day and LingQ is excited to reveal the addition of Hindi, increasing the number of languages available on the platform to 47.

Language App LingQ Releases Hindi

Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world with around 600 million speakers. The language is a descendant of Sanskrit, one of the oldest languages in the world.

World Hindi Day, or Vishwa Hindi Diwas, marks the first time Hindi was spoken in the United Nations' General Assembly. The first World Hindi Day took place on January 10, 2006.

Hindi learners on LingQ can combine interactive lessons, personalized vocabulary tools, a community of engaged native speakers and the latest AI-powered tools for a comprehensive, immersive experience. Learners will have the opportunity to gain proficiency in reading, listening, speaking, and the Devanagari writing system Hindi uses.

"I plan to start exploring the ways and charms of Hindi, so much a part of the history, religion and culture of the world,” said LingQ co-founder and YouTube polyglot Steve Kaufmann. "Once again, I will face a new writing system. It will be slow going, but I am looking forward to the challenge."

Hindi language courses are available on LingQ's website and app starting today.
