[Vancouver, Canada] — LingQ, the powerful language learning app developed by polyglot Steve Kaufmann, marks Hùng Kings’ Festival by releasing Vietnamese.
Vietnamese is spoken natively by roughly 85 million people worldwide, including in significant diasporas in the US, France, Australia and Canada. A member of the Austroasiatic language family, Vietnamese has six tones making pronunciation vital in conveying meaning. The Vietnamese lexicon has borrowed vocabulary from Chinese, English and French over the years, highlighting its diversity.
Hùng Kings’ Festival is one of Vietnam’s largest annual celebrations and runs from April 9 - April 18 in 2024. The festival celebrates the Hùng Kings and all they did to establish modern-day Vietnam.
“My wife and I visited Vietnam a few years ago. I studied a bunch of phrase books but all I could say was thank you.” said LingQ co-founder and YouTube polyglot Steve Kaufmann. “Happy to add Vietnamese now so that I can prepare for my next visit. Rich history in this beautiful country of 95 million people.”
